The decision makes his execution at 7pm EDT all the more likely, though furious efforts continue to win a reprieve. His lawyers filed another appeal today challenging ballistics tests in the 1989 murder of a Georgia police officer.

“We came here to try and prove Mr. Davis is innocent and unfortunately we were denied that opportunity by the Department of Corrections,” said Davis attorney Stephen Marsh. Protesters were gathering outside the prison. The dead officer’s mother, meanwhile, says she has “no doubt” about Davis’ guilt. “I guess justice will be done and that’s what we were fighting for,” she said. Click for more.
